Runway Show FW17
Last Sunday evening, the Christophe Sauvat World has been extended to one more milestone. In one of Lisbon’s modern landmarks, the cultural centre of Belém – the new location for this edition of Lisbon Fashion Week – the Christophe Sauvat Fall-Winter 17/18 collection was presented to the fashion industry and market, its professionals and enthusiasts, with praise and contentment. Christophe Sauvat was greeted with congratulations and excitement, as his designs took the audience on a visual tour of unpretentious glamour and authentic style. Cosmopolitan and cool, the unique character of The House of Christophe Sauvat was once more imprinted into fashionable ready-to-wear items that are both bold and feminine, as much as relaxed and versatile. Under the event’s theme, Boundless, Christophe Sauvat proposal for the next season is a female wardrobe inspired in the endless splendent nights of Los Angeles and the sumptuousness of the Russian czars’ era.
Fluid and comfortable silhouettes contrast with vivacious animal prints and exquisite embroidery in playful and geometrical shapes, and the noble materials such as velvet, multicoloured faux fur and sequins in patterns, surprisingly remark for the bohemian atitude present throughout all his creations. Enhanced by statement oversized handbags with intricate detailed beadwork, patchwork and tradicional artisan work, the result was a showcase of extravagance, translated in rich textures and gallant originality.
The signature Christophe Sauvat style, made for a contemporary chic and free spirited woman has been widely recognized in Portugal by the press and several bloggers. In last weekend’s show, celebrities such as the actresses Oceana Basílio and Paula Lobo Antunes, and international model Jani Gabriel were present in the audience and seen flaunting Christophe Sauvat’s Spring-Summer 17 collection garments.
